In Memoriam

"Now was the day departing" by Gustave Doré (from Dante's Divine Comedy)

When I started this website with my friend winterm_te, we knew of the risks we were taking. That was something we accepted, something that came with the job. We were ready for it — we knew how dirty the other side would play, we even expected it. And when accusations started to rise, when allegations were made against me, we knew we were onto something. We knew the risks, but we also knew the stakes were worth the gamble. And so we chose to put ourselves in the line of fire.

A few of our readers made the same choice. A few of you all felt our fight was worth the risk , and decided to join us. And today, one of you, one of us, got too close and paid the price. It is with great sadness that I have to announce that Igor Drukov has lost his life — that he’s been murdered. There’s no doubt of it, considering the video we were sent, along with a press clipping telling of a “nameless body retrieved from the river”. They probably intended this as a warning — but it will only strengthen our resolve. We owe it to Igor.

Igor was one of the first to join this site, and we’ve corresponded on an on-and-off basis. Even if his studies kept him busy, as well as a couple of family issues he didn’t want to elaborate on, he’s always been a strong supporter. In fact, he was the one who eventually identified Tchevchenko and delivered his ID to us. One achievement he paid a dear price for. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends. He will be missed.

Rest in peace.
